CommunityCentral is an online space for people working in tangata whenua, community and voluntary organisations, public health workers, advocates and others in Aotearoa New Zealand. CommunityCentral is run by five founding partner organisations. It is not itself an organisation.
You can:
- Subscribe to newsletters by email, browse them online, or receive them via RSS - find out more about e-newsletters
- Find out what's happening with national projects - link to an index of projects happening across the sector - find out more about collaborative projects
- Create or join a private workspace for keeping common sets of files and records for groups working together on different computers, across different organisations or in different locations - find out more about Workspaces
- Use Networks as a forum to share ideas and discuss a topic or theme of common interest - find out more about Networks
Whether you are in a full-time job or have a voluntary role with one or more community groups, it's free for you to join CommunityCentral. Once you've signed up you can manage your e-newsletter subscriptions plus make contact with other members.
As CommunityCentral evolves, we are committed to involving other people and organisations. We want you to give us your feedback to help us decide on refinements and additions you might need to make your work online even easier. You can also take a look at our suggestions 'wishlist'.
Over time, CommunityCentral will grow, so that further phases will be released and tailored to a growing range of user needs.
CommunityCentral-as a sector-owned project-can grow and survive for the long-term, and increase the confidence and skills of people working in the sector. So, we will be discussing and devising ways we can do this.
CommunityCentral is the initiative of five national umbrella organisations with support from a number of individuals and organisations (see our acknowledgements).
The five founding partners are:
- ANGOA (Association of Non-Governmental Organisations of Aotearoa)
- NZ Council of Social Services (NZCOSS)
- NZ Federation of Voluntary Welfare Organisations (NZFVWO)
- SHORE (Centre for Social and Health Outcomes Research and Evaluation)
- Volunteering NZ.
In keeping with their spirit of community involvement the founding partners were very happy to build the website using technologies created by the global open source software community. To make the website a reality, CommunityCentral partnered with Egressive, a Christchurch-based web development and hosting company committed to making open source software work for businesses and organisations.
