If you often work together or want to work together but you're all on different computers and from different organisations, CommunityCentral offers you a handy facility.
A Workspace helps you keep everything together in one place online. It's accessible to everyone in your group at any time, anywhere.
Use Workspaces when you are planning and managing meetings, conferences or other events, or creating and managing documents together (putting together agendas, writing submissions, minutes, plans or policies-any document that your group is working on together or needs to share). You can also share links, images and photos-in fact any computer files.
Workspaces are for people working in tangata whenua, community and voluntary organisations in Aotearoa New Zealand.
Why set up a Workspace?
Sharing records and files on paper, or by email between a number of people across different organisations can become complex very quickly-with different versions and edits being circulated regularly. This typically results in many emails to everybody in the group and can be exasperating! A CommunityCentral Workspace instead provides you a common filing system for people working from different computers and physical locations and eliminates the need to use email extensively.
Members of the group can create documents on their own computers, and then store them in their CommunityCentral private workspace for everyone in the group to read and comment on.
Getting started with Workspaces
Workspaces are available for people working in the tangata whenua, community and voluntary sector in Aotearoa New Zealand. The work you are doing needs to be of benefit of the community.
Workspaces are private (for use of invited people only). You need an organiser or manager to get things started. It's free to set up a Workspace on CommunityCentral until mid 2009. Each person in your group first needs to sign-up to CommunityCentral. Then you use your password to access the Workspace. As Workspaces are private, you also need to be granted access by the group's organiser.
